West Bloomfield Kitchen Remodel
A sophisticated kitchen refresh featuring layered textures, brass details, and bright, functional design.

A Thoughtful Update That Changed Everything
At first glance, this kitchen wasn’t missing much but the homeowners felt it every day.
Storage was limited, the layout felt constrained, and there wasn’t a dedicated pantry to support how they actually used the space. And while they wanted meaningful improvements, there was one important limitation:
The overall layout couldn’t change.
That meant no major relocations. Just smarter use of the space they already had.
To make things even more nuanced, the kitchen had soffits and a small wall that made the space feel more closed off than it needed to be. The challenge wasn’t to start over. It was to open things up, add storage, and create a more functional kitchen within the same footprint.
Opening Up the Space
One of the first opportunities was removing a small wall that slightly separated the kitchen from the surrounding area.
It made a noticeable difference. The kitchen immediately felt more connected, more open, and easier to move through.
In addition, removing the existing soffits allowed the cabinetry to extend higher, drawing the eye upward and giving the room a taller, more finished look.
Keeping the Design Clean and Cohesive
With the layout staying consistent, the design needed to carry the transformation.
The result is a kitchen that feels bright, clean, and intentional:
- Full-height cabinetry with crown detail creates a polished, built-in look
- Light finishes reflect natural light and keep the space feeling open
- Subtle hardware and fixtures add warmth without competing for attention
- Layered lighting (recessed, pendant, and under-cabinet) improves both function and atmosphere

Full-Height Cabinetry
Extending the cabinetry to the ceiling removed visual gaps and added valuable storage, while the crown detail gives the entire kitchen a finished, built-in look.

Tile Backsplash
The glossy subway tile backsplash reflects natural light from the window, helping the kitchen feel brighter and more open without adding visual clutter.

Warm Brass Hardware
Subtle brass hardware adds warmth and contrast against the light cabinetry, bringing in just enough detail to elevate the space without overpowering it.

Island
The oversized island creates a natural gathering space while adding prep area and seating — making the kitchen more usable for both daily routines and entertaining.

Layered Lighting
Recessed, pendant, and under-cabinet lighting work together to improve visibility, highlight key areas, and create a more comfortable atmosphere throughout the space.

Dedicated Pantry
Adding a pantry near the kitchen entrance solved the original storage challenge, giving the homeowners a place for everything without overcrowding the main kitchen.
